Cultural Committee
Efficiently incorporating the various art forms, which have flown down from the rich heritage of our country, in the hectic schedule of a law student, is the Cultural Committee headed by Smt. DeepaliMukhyopadyay. In this regard the committee provides a platform to all the students to improve and showcase their talent in various art forms. Singing, dancing, drama, sketching, rangoli, mehendietc are some of such areas which encourage the students to exhibit themselves.

Literary Committee
The Literary committee aims to kindle the spark among and hone the writing skills of, the students in more ways than one. It provides a platform for to the students to satiate their thirst for knowledge as well as to disseminate the same the same among their peers in diverse ways. To take these aspirations to their logical end, the committee undertakes several initiatives periodically. Debates, Essay-writing competitions, creative writing, pick and speak, spell- bee etc. are some such endeavours that engage the students to contribute their might to enrich the academic environment laced with necessary co-curricular flavour.


  • FIFTH YR. students have won Quiz Competition   conducted by KLE Law College.
  • Fourth Year Students have won Allianze Quiz Competition.
  • 3RD YR. Student won third place in LAHARI MOOT COMPETITION

Moot Court Committee
Mooting is an effective activity which gives law students an insider’s perspective of how legal practice works.Executing a moot court develops a student’slogical thinking, public speaking and gain a practical knowledge of the legal system. It is important to note that moot-court is not only helpful for a student’s future practiceat the Bar, it also helps the law student to develop the skills of organization, gain confidence, increase clarity of oral expression etc., These qualities are appreciated  in every field. 

The Mooters’ Society in BILS, headed by Prof. Usha Prakash, aims at training the students with an attitude to win each and every case. In this regard, training is given to the students in the areas of drafting, presentation, and oral arguments.

Panel Selection for Moot Court participation:
The Moot Court Society conducts ‘The PanelMoot Court Competition’annually for selecting the students to form the Panel of Mooters. Intensive training is given to students who are in the Panel and are encouraged to participate in the National and International Moot Court Competitions

In a law School Moot Court constitutes and essential part of Law Students’s skill set.  It is a mock court where students have to present their arguments for a given side as they would in a real court hall.  As an effort to ensure that Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies is represented by its best students at Moot Courts conducted at the national and international level a Panel is constituted by a round of elimination.  This academic year the Panel Moot Court was conducted on the 27th August 2017.   Given below is a detailed report of the same.

The Problem was related to consumer protection.  Advocates Act and Constitution.

Written Submissions:
Teams submitted their memorandum for either side on 23rd August 2017.  The memorandums were exchanged on 26the August 2017.

Oral Arguments:
The oral Arguments were conducted on 27the August 2017,27 teams consisting of 3 members each participated in this event.  3 Courts were constituted for conducting the arguments each with two judges.  The Judges for each court are listed below:

The inauguration of Students Activities, 2017-18 was organized on the 31st August 2017  Lt. Gen. Ravi Eipe, PVSM, AVSM,(Retd) former GOC-IN-C, Eastern command was consented to be the Chief Guest.  Prof  B.V. Narayana Rao Secretary, BHSHES was the Guest of Honour.   Shri N.B. Bhat, IPS (Retd.,) Vice President, BHSHES & Dean, BILS had presided over the function.  Our Chief Guest Lt. Gen, Ravi Eipe addressed the gathering.  He delivered his speech on “The Rise of China and its impact of India”.  It was a very inspiring and informative speech which was followed by  a interactive session.  It was indeed a very mind blowing session.

The Cultural Committee organized the Freshers’ day on the 10th of August 2017.  The 1st year batch was given a welcome and a few rounds of talent   was organized.  The Students had to introduce themselves, and display their talent. From amongst them, best Male and  Female  Freshers’ were adjudged.  Besides this also Best Male & Female Ethnic attire prizes of satches were given away to them.

BILS has organized, NSS activities on 18-08-2017 at the Government High School, Doddderi Bidadi, Karnatka, (Bangalore Rural)
We have conducted many sports and Literary activities to the students.
